Liverpool industrialist and tunnel-builder Joseph Williamson (1796-1840) hosted a dinner party at his Edge Hill townhouse. The esteemed guests were served only a simple meal of porridge and hard biscuits, prompting many disgruntled diners to leave early. Williamson described those who remained as 'my real friends', and invited them to stay for a lavish feast which awaited in the next room.

On Sunday 28th August 2016 at 6pm Mark Simmonds will present his latest work Bad Scouse in the intimate setting of The Cow&Co Cafe, Liverpool.

Drawing inspiration from fast food, rock formations and local heroes, the artist will examine the physical and psychological spaces that surround food.

The event is accompanied by a three course meal, a performance and an exclusively editioned artwork for each of the guests in attendance.
